Starlight, Starburst… Sunburst

My first DIY sunburst mirror. I love these, but I don’t love the price of them so making them is the next best thing πŸ™‚

All I used was bamboo sticks, glue gun, mirror, floral wreath (that green stuff you can stick fake flowers in) and spray paint.

Cut all the bamboo into manageable lengths (kept them unmeasured for a more random look)

Draw lines on the floral wreath as a guide

Glue all the bamboo sticks onto the floral wreath. The back isn’t pretty but no one sees it anyways πŸ™‚

Trim it to size. Mine ended up being pieces 16″ or less.

Hot glue the mirror to the top of the floral wreath and hang it on the wall.

I spent…

Bamboo – $9
Mirror – $2.50
Floral wreath – $1.77
Spray paint – $3

For a total cost of about $16 and that makes me happy!

This one ended up in our room, but I have another one planned (different style) for the office.

Happy Thursday πŸ™‚

  1. I love it! & I’ll definitely bookmark it to try it out soon! One question: how did you get it on the wall? I have cinderblock walls, which makes everything 10 times harder, but I’m wondering how you got yours there.

    1. Yeah.. I posted that pretty quick and didn’t add that part… Sorry! I ended up getting a really thin piece of wood (a circle) from Hobby Lobby and gluing that to the back. Then, I added the photo hanger piece (lol sorry I dunno what they’re called) to the wood and hung it. If you have any questions when you start doing it feel free to email me πŸ™‚
