Nursery DIY # 1

We are finally making progress in the nursery and I’m so excited to put it all together and show everyone! While the bigger projects are in the works though, I’ve started a few other little DIY projects and this is the first one I’ve finished.

I first saw it on pinterest here and I think it’s the cutest.

I hit up Hobby Lobby for the supplies and bought a letter stencil, paint, embroidery hoop, fabric and thread. I decided to stencil the quote in an acrylic paint instead of a stamp to make it more defined, but I pretty much copied the rest.

I stenciled the quote…

and freehanded the mountains and birds.

The finished product looks like this! Not a great pic but it’s raining and the
cameras are out in the car.

I’m not sure if I’ll leave it in the hoop or frame it some other way, but for now I like the hoop. I’m planning to put it on a shelf so now I just need the shelf!

Yay for progress on the nursery! Happy Tuesday!

  1. I love it, honey. You are so creative…just like your mom. She used to do stitching like that. In fact I have a couple ornaments she made in little hoops. When Phina is crabby…just once in a while..when she finally falls to sleep, we say “and she sleeps”…taken from Pretty Woman…but that’s just how parents feel sometimes. Seems like the time is starting to go fast for you…at least it does to me.
Love you, and your wonderful husband and our little guppy or guppette. That will be a fun thing to tell her when she is old enough to understand. Might need to get an aquarium with some little guppies in it. They multiply very fast by the way. Grampa Len had fish….yuch.
    Take care and God bless.
