My War Against Stretch Marks…

I know whether you get stretch marks or not is genetic (for the most part), but I had no intention of sitting around like a bump on a log waiting for them to show up. I’ve been bolstering the economy with my purchases of oils, lotions, and creams and if I do end up with stretch marks at least I’ll feel like I did SOMETHING to try to prevent them. Who knows, maybe they’d be worse if I hadn’t. So this is what’s currently in my arsenal…

My number one favorite so far is Bio-Oil. I put this on every night, without fail, and I’ve been using it since I was about 8 weeks along. It doesn’t have a strong smell, absorbs quickly and while it has some residue it doesn’t make me feel sticky.

In the morning I use Palmer’s Stretch Mark Cream. Not a huge fan of the smell, but it absorbs and dries quicker than the Bio-Oil so I can get dressed and not feel like my clothes are sticking to me. Before I leave for work I throw this in my purse and I sometimes put it on during the day as well.

My last resort is Palmer’s Tummy Butter and I have to say I hate it. I’ve used it maybe twice and I woke up the next morning just as greasy as when I first put it on. That makes me think it isn’t doing anything if it isn’t absorbing and I HATE feeling sticky so this is the bottom of the list, use only in case of emergency stuff now.

Ok, and I know you think I’m crazy at this point, but I just ordered Earth Mama Angel Baby Stretch Oil as well. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’ve heard great things about it so it’ll be added to the regimen somewhere. Maybe switching off between the Bio-Oil and this.

So that’s the deal for now. If nothing else, I can say that my skin looks and feels really soft and it isn’t itchy or feeling stretched at all. I guess I’ll come back after baby and let you know if all this oiling and lotioning actually did anything. Fingers crossed!

  1. You are too funny!! Think any of those products would help my stretch marks? I didn’t think so. Love you, sweetheart.

  2. Good to know about the tummy butter. I thought about adding it to my regime but maybe I’ll go for the Stretch Oil spray instead!
