Well, That’s A Progress Killer

Here’s the latest on our never ending kitchen renovation.

We’ve actually had some time to work on the kitchen the last few days and we were making some good progress. There was a light at the end of the tunnel.

And then yesterday I looked at the wall and said, “Is that mold?”

And it was.

{what, fuzzy walls aren’t “in” this year?}

So, we did some research and called a couple mold companies that were very obviously in no hurry to come fix our problem. So… David put on the nuclear-fallout respirator, all forward motion was halted, and we started removing cabinets and cutting out drywall. And more drywall… and a little more drywall. Until we were sure all the mold was gone.

{This picture doesn’t even show you the whole hole because the fridge was in the way and there’s a corner there.}

Anyways, based on the evidence, we’re almost positive our refrigerator has a super tiny slow leak {who knows maybe since we bought it a few years ago} and that moisture combined with the heat the back of the refrigerator puts out created the perfect mold habitat. Awesome.

Now, all we have to do is some more cleaning with bleach, re-drywall, rebuild the back of the cabinet, get the refrigerator and cabinets out of the middle of my kitchen {and make sure the fridge isn’t leaking}, and we’ll be back on track to finish this stupid kitchen.

{yes, that’s a picture of a picture because ain’t nobody got time to upload and edit in this house}

That light at the end of the tunnel is about the size of a pinhead now, but we’ll get there… eventually.
