Christmas Caroling Blog Style

I’ve been listening to Christmas music since before Thanksgiving and I’m still not sick of it. We play music all day at our house so I hear these songs over and over again and this year more than ever I’m reminded these songs are so special.

Music is powerful. Words are powerful. Combined, a song has this way of speaking to you in ways that nothing else can. This is true for me at least.

So, I’m going to be posting the lyrics to Christmas songs throughout the next few weeks in an effort to help everyone remember that Christmas is not the stressful, overwhelming occasion that the consumer machine makes you feel like it is.

Read the words. Even if you think you know the lyrics by heart because you’ve been singing this song for years. Really read them. Then listen to the song. First up, O Come All Ye Faithful.

O Come All Ye Faithful
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,
Born the King of Angels;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

O Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing all that hear in heaven God’s holy word.
Give to our Father glory in the Highest;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

All Hail! Lord, we greet Thee,
Born this happy morning,
O Jesus! for evermore be Thy name adored.
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

So, this is Christmas 😉
